PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Planning & Development interns will assist Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) with projects and initiatives that enhance livability and economic development in Uptown and South End.

 SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL TASKS

  • Research — data collection and analysis as needed for reporting in the areas of transportation and development

  • Planning & Development — assist with committee meetings, workshops, and projects

  • Community Outreach — tasks related to community engagement initiatives

  • Graphics — production of graphics and maps

  • Support ongoing projects, plans, and initiatives managed by other CCCP teams

 CURRENT/ONGOING PROJECTS

  • 2040 Vision Plan — implement the goals and strategies of the recently adopted Center City Vision Plan

  • Charlotte Rail Trail — contribute to enhancement and maintenance of four-mile urban trail in South End & Uptown

  • South End Vision Plan — work towards realizing the goals of the South End Vision Plan

  • Center City Development — projects and initiatives proposed by the private and public sector

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

All applicants should be available to work 20 - 30 hours per week during regular business hours (potential per-project weekend work may arise, but this is rare). The ideal contractor works well independently and collaborates effectively with others. Successful applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is strongly desired; knowledge of GIS software is valued but not required.

Students, preferably those who have completed some graduate-level coursework in architecture, urban planning/design, real estate, geography, or transportation, are encouraged to apply. An hourly wage of $15 will be paid. 

Vaccination: All CCCP employees, contractors, and interns are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the CDC, unless a request is made for an exemption due to disability or a sincerely held religious belief, and his or her request for exemption is approved. Upon start date, “fully vaccinated” includes having a booster shot.
