MITArchA Inaugural Mentoring + State of Design Event

On September 28th, the MIT Architecture Alumni Group will host a Pizza dinner to officially launch the Student + Alumni Mentoring program and host a presentation from the State of Design Committee. Course IV Students and Alumni are invited to attend, connect and learn more about these exciting initiatives!

This September we will initiate two MITArchA Mentoring programs, the MIT/MITArchA Student + Alumni Mentoring Program, in collaboration with the MIT Architecture Department, and also, the MITArchA Alumni + Alumni Mentoring Program. The Professional Forum will be launched separately, and is in development. Our program is open to all MITArchA members. We invite all Course 4 alumni to participate and join MITArchA at no cost, but if you can, please make a small donation. To join MITArchA or renew your membership, please visit the MITArchA website at:  www.mitarcha.org for more information, and then complete the Mentoring Questionnaire, if you haven’t already completed it.

In brief, the MITArchA Mentorship & Professional Forum Program connects alumni practitioners to current students and alumni, and will also offer a Professional Forum for peer-to-peer exchange. This program allows alumni to draw upon their years of knowledge and wisdom to guide young graduates as they embark upon their careers, and to professional alumni who are seeking to broaden their understanding of a career path, practice, or new areas of interest. These programs are designed to request a modest time commitment of the participants and that meet a broad range in professional interest to match the vast diversity of our alumni career paths.

We’re excited to help build a MITArchA professional community that’s supportive of students, and alumni.  If you have any questions, please contact us. If you know of other alumni who may be interested, please direct them to the MITArchA website, or this announcement.

Developing critical discourse and open platforms for sharing ideas and events on the topics of design are the core values of the MITArchA Committee on Design. While we meet periodically within the context of the Board of Directors, our more important role is to serve Course IV alumni and create opportunities for alumni to connect, engage and return to an environment that shares our common interests in design.

Our first initiative since our inception in 2021 is an exciting opportunity for our alumni to come together on key issues within the arena of design. In a fast-changing world where design now more than ever will make a difference to our future, we hope to establish an inquiry into the work and thoughts of our alumni and what makes MIT design unique.

The State of MIT Design is about you: our alumni. We ask the question- how do we design at MIT?

The evening will present a collection of essays on this topic followed by discussion.
