Innovation + Technology: a Talk by Marcel Botha, SMArchS ‘06

DESCRIPTION

Marcel Botha SMArchS '06 will speak to local alumni about the work of his company, 10xBeta, a product management and specialty engineering firm with expertise in consumer, industrial, and medical products. By leveraging a global network of designers, engineers and manufacturers, 10XBeta has been involved in a wide range of venture-backed and self-funded products. 10xBeta has developed hundreds of consumer products and has helped launch over 17 companies.

10XBeta follows a modified product management process that combines design simplicity and knowledge of commercialization processes that is uniquely applicable to situations in which innovation, speed-to-market, and project economics are critical. Marcel Botha leads product engagement and draws on the extensive expertise of his network to design, engineer, and manufacture products.

Recent projects include: FOOTPRINTLESS, a sneaker prototype created from CO2 recovered from energy production, BEATBOT, a programmable self-driving robot designed to motivate athletes, and JEFFSOLVES MEDTECH, an immersive medical innovation program developed in collaboration with Thomas Jefferson University.
